Henna’s dedicated volunteers visit the extremely isolated and housebound Asian Women living in their homes. This service is provided in many South Asian languages aswell as English.
The Befriending service help's individuals that are in need for extra help to improve their social circle. Volunteers visit beneficiaries weekly to establish a trusted relationship.
They will take part in improving their networks alongside enjoying community activities within their local community with their volunteer.
Henna’s work implements our elderly users to volunteer and take ownership of many projects and work towards strengthening communities that are inclusive to older people.
Our aim for running this service was to build confidence, reduce isolation and improve the health of any individual.
Our goal is to act as a bridge between isolated individuals and the services offered by Henna and of statutory and voluntary sector agencies.
The Befriending visits allow volunteers to work in a focused way, to achieve specific tasks or goals, or to take up activities that are meaningful to the member.
Henna also provide a Telephone Befriending Service, to help relieve loneliness and isolation amongst our members. Our volunteers will make regular telephone contact for a friendly and informal chat. Typically, calls will last between 15 and 20 minutes each week.
"I never knew there was a group for Asian women,
just on my doorstep, the Befriending service has given me a community to be a part of!" ~~ Henna member
